We service all fire extinguishers sold for commercial use with UL listing.

Do you service old fire extinguishers?
Most all fire extinguishers are serviceable providing the cylinder meets the legal fire requirements.
Can you service a dented fire extinguisher?
In some instances, due to damage to the cylinder or parts, the extinguisher may need to be replaced.
How often should my fire extinguisher be serviced?
To comply with local and state fire safety standards, all fire extinguishers should be inspected monthly and inspected annually by a licensed technician.
Can I check my own fire extinguisher?
Fire extinguishers are required to be inspected and serviced by a qualified licensed technician each year. Business owners are required by law to provide functioning fire extinguishers to protect not only the business, but the employees and the occupants of the building.
Will I be inspected by a fire inspector?
More than likely, you will be inspected by a local fire inspector, insurance inspector, or a state fire inspector, etc. XIT Tech will evaluate your facility each time we visit to ensure you meet state and local codes in case you are inspected.
I received a list of violations from the fire inspector, can you help?
We can definitely help! We will service each item that is in violation and make it satisfy the state/local codes. We also will contact the inspector to give updates and solutions.
What kind of fire extinguishers do I need?
There are many different types of fire extinguishers. We will determine the proper type and location of fire extinguisher based on factors such as lay out of the building, specific hazards, travel paths, and types of flammables.
Do extinguishers need to be mounted?
Yes. They need to be secured to the wall or vehicle with the correct bracket to prevent damage, discharge, and/or being accidentally relocated.
Where do I need to put a fire extinguisher?
We will determine a suitable location based on path of egress and location of specific hazards. It will need to be easily visible and easily accessible as well as aesthetically located.
Do I need to know where my extinguishers are located?
Yes! Since it is important for you to know where the extinguishers are located in case of fire, we install signs over them to mark them for quick access.
Can you show me how to use a fire extinguisher?
Absolutely! When we service your fire extinguishers, just ask our staff and we will give you a demonstration. We can also schedule a time to train your employees in a live fire setting.
*Almost all fires can be extinguished by a trained user if caught quick enough.
What do I need to do if I ever have to use a fire extinguisher?
You should call us immediately so we can recharge it or replace it even if it was only partially discharged. A momentary discharge could cause a total loss of pressure.
How to use a fire extinguisher?
- Pull the pin completely out at the top of the handle to break the seal
- Aim at the fire standing at a safe distance
- Squeeze the handles together to discharge the agent
- Sweep the nozzle aimed at the base of the fire from side to side
Things to consider before a fire begins:
- Know where fire extinguishers are located.
- Make sure gauges on the extinguishers are in proper range, mounted securely, and that you have unobstructed access to them. Don’t use a fire extinguisher as a door stop!
- Know what type of fire extinguisher agents are in your building.
- Have an escape plan.
If you have a fire:
- Call 911 and activate the building alarm system.
- Announce the fire to others in the building and in the area.
- Determine if the fire is small enough and contained enough to use a fire extinguisher on.
- Prioritize personal safety. If the fire grows rapidly or threatens your safety, evacuate the area immediately!
